Michael Paul Smith
Mr. Smith’s practice is concentrated in the areas of complex civil litigation, including personal injury and medical malpractice, land use, domestic relations, estate planning and various corporate matters and transactions. In 2008 alone, Mr. Smith, via trial and settlement, recovered over $5 million for his clients. Mr. Smith has received the highest possible rating an attorney can receive for their abilities and ethics, ‘AV’. The rating is established by a Martindale Hubble survey of Judges and attorneys who have either had cases against Mr. Smith, or in the cases of Judges ratings, who have had cases in which Smith was the trial attorney. Mr. Smith has been a partner at Bodie, Dolina, Smith & Hobbs since 1995. While attending night school at the University of Baltimore, Mr. Smith worked full time for the Hon. Joseph F. Murphy, Jr., then a Circuit Court Judge, now a Judge on Maryland’s highest court, the Court of Appeals.
Outside the practice of law, Mr. Smith is very active in a number of charitable and community matters, including the Hannah More School, the Martin J. Smith Foundation, Irvine Nature Center and many political endeavors. Michael Paul Smith served Governor Martin O’Malley as Co-Chair of his transition team for the Environment and the Department of Natural Resources. He successfully managed the 2002 race for Baltimore County Executive and has served as a key advisor on numerous campaigns since 2002, including every Baltimore County Sitting Judge campaign since 2000, races for the House of Delegates, and the re-election campaign for Baltimore County Executive in 2006.
